He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawson Clark Kennedy and Myrtle Miller Kennedy; and his brothers, Charles Kennedy (Judy) and Richard Kennedy (Vivian). He is survived by: his wife Deanna Robertson Kennedy; his daughters, Karyn Efird and LeAnn Kennedy; his grandsons, Nick Efird and Landon Efird; his brother Bill Kennedy (Debbie); and his siblings-in-law, Nancy Gallimore (Doak), Janie Huffman and Michael Robertson. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hopewell United Methodist Church, 4540 Hopewell Church Road, Trinity, NC 27370.
