He was predeceased by: his parents, Brice Everette and Ruby Simpson Horton; and his siblings, Randy, Sonny, Onari, Era and Alma.
He is survived by: his wife Dr. Phyllis Horton; and his children, Mary, Roy, Jr. and Amy. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
