He was predeceased by: his parents, John Smith and Maxine Lednum Smith; and his brother Kenneth Smith. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Tanner Smith; his sons, Chris Smith (Angie Quandt-Smith) and Shane Smith (Jamie Smith); his grandchildren, Alex Smith, Sophie Smith, Ciara Smith, Wesley Smith, Quinn Smith, Elisabeth Olson and Logan Olson; and his siblings, Glenda Gilmore and Clyde Gilmore.
The military honors will be held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Loflin Funeral Home Chapel (212 W Swannanoa Ave, Liberty, NC 27298).
