He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Ray McKinney and Lucy Corine Scott McKinney of Atlanta, Georgia.. He is survived by: his wife Cathleen Louise Morrow McKinney; his children, Carolyn Zimmerman (Jonathan Zimmerman) of Hickory, Michael McKinney (Karen McKinney) of Southwick, Massachusetts and Erin Johnson (Steven Johnson) of Greensboro; his grandchildren, Sara Markov (Alex Markov) of Charlotte, Elizabeth Suttles (Andrej Suttles) of Greenville, Brantley Ramseur of Durham, Spencer Ramseur of Hickory, Charlotte Zimmerman of Hickory, Ryan McKinney of Union City, Emily McKinney of Waialua, Hawaii, Emma-Claire Johnson of Greensboro and Nolan Johnson of Greensboro; his great grandchildren, Aidan Markov, Theodore Markov, Paxton Suttles and Olivia Suttles; and his sister Elizabeth "Libby" Davidson of Nashville, Georgia..
