He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Gurney and Harriette Gurney; his wife Libby; and his sister Betty Gurney. He is survived by: his friend Susan Parker; his children, Cherie Shepherd, Bill (Leslie Gurney), John Gurney (Karen) and Tracy McDaniel; his grandchildren, Jaron (Jamie Gurney), Shane (Erin Shepherd), Emilee (Doug Pike), Georgia Rae (Tyler Martin), Adam McDaniel (Miranda Armfield), Winslow (Kenny Winslow) and Maitland (Evan Rhodes); and his great grandchildren, Maddox Penland, Grayson Shepherd, Madalyn Gurney, Sawyer Pike, Copeland Martin, Savannah Shepherd, Lily McDaniel, Riggins Pike, Hayes Martin and Kathryn Gurney.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in his honor to the Hospice of the Piedmont, who guided us through a challenging time, or the Methodist Home for Children.
