With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Walter Blackburn Jr. (High Point, North Carolina), who passed away on October 10, 2020 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter S. Blackburn, Sr. and Mary Koonce Blackburn; and his siblings, Don Blackburn, Pat Greene and Vickie Blackburn.

He is survived by: his close friend Martha Stewart; his children, Terri Thomas (Craig) of High Point, Sherri Jones (Mack) of Jamestown and Keith Blackburn of High Point; his brothers, David Blackburn of Asheboro and Jim Blackburn (Janet) of Trinity; his grandchildren, Casie Thomas Pegg (Luke), Chad Thomas (Brooke), Taylor Thomas, Leah Mickey, Kendra Mickey and Tara Jones; his great grandchildren, Craig Austin, Finley Thomas, Tolliver, Ella Pegg, Kinley Grady and Maverick Jones; and his close friends, Carroll and Dickie Springer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Mental Health Associates of the Triad, 910 Mill Ave., High Point, NC 27260 or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC. 27262.

“I have so many great memories of Walt, I just do not know where to start. He was first and foremost my friend. Over the years we spent many hours in conversation during and after the High Point Furniture Market. We spoke about everything from family, life, politics to market news. The Chinese have a saying that says "When a great man dies, away goes a corner of the city wall" Walt was that great man, and today High Point North Carolina has lost a piece of their city wall, Hugs Anita H”
