With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John White Askew Sr. of Hillsborough, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 19, 2025 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though John White may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Laurin Barker Askew, Sr. and Ellen Richmond White Askew. He is survived by: his wife Donna Brown Askew; his children, Katherine Askew Kirschner (Josh) and John "Jay" White Askew, Jr.; his grandson Alex Kirschner of Chapel Hill; his brother Laurin "Monk" Barker Askew, Jr.; and his brothers-in-law, Ricky Simpson (Gloria), David Brown (June) and Jeff Brown (Frances). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
