She was predeceased by: her parents, Ruby Mae Griffin Holloway and Harold Thompson Holloway; and her siblings, Robert Reneé Holloway and Lillie Mae Holloway Philpot (Jerry). She is survived by: her husband Jimmy Edward Cheek; her son Robert Lynn Cheek (Nancy Rudisill Cheek); her grandchildren, Courtney Lynn Cheek and Nathan Alexander Cheek; her children, Kimberly Kay Cheek Schott (Charles Schott), Jody Edward Cheek (Misty Chance Cheek) and Kristi Dawn Cheek; her grandsons, Charles Jacob Anspach (Emily Efland Anspach) and Benjamin Edward Anspach; her siblings, Ronald Coleman Holloway (Mary Jane) and Alice Faye Holloway Parker; her siblings-in-law, Betty Ann Bolick Hale (late Gordon), Marie Cheek Wilson (Raymond) and William J. Secrest (late Durlene); Charles Gregory Anspach. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 22nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Clements Funeral Chapel (148 N Churton St, Hillsborough, NC 27278). A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 22nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Authoracare Hospice, Meals on Wheels or similar institutions, or simply honor Merita's memory by sharing a book or baking something sweet for someone in need.
