We announce the death of James David Shepard Sr. of Holly Ridge, North Carolina, who passed away on September 24, 2026, at the age of 90. James David will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ebony Shepard and Mary Caroline Shepard; and his siblings, Baby Brown, Thelma Swinson, Durwood Brown, Herman Brown, Judy Jinks and John Shepard.
He is survived by: his wife Hattie Ebey Shepard; his children, Sandra Kay Byrd (Ron) of Holly Ridge, James David Shepard, Jr. (Angie) of Hampstead, Juanita Shepard (Andy) of Hampstead and Sharon Ann Rackley (Thomas) of Holly Ridge; his grandchildren, Amanda Marks (Jason), Michael Byrd, Priscilla Renee Shepard (Robert), Tristen Cook (Cheyenne), Justin Clay, Christopher Rackley (Misty) and Jason Leedy (Whitni); his great grandchildren, Austin Marks, Logan Marks, Daisy Rae Byrd, Nathaniel Shepard, Aaliyah Roberson, Kyron Roberson, Kameron Roberson, Bentley Cook, Oakleigh Cook, Easton Cook Coleson, Wyatt Clay, Levi Clay, Brielle Rackley, Harbor Rackley, Coleson Leedy, Bryson Leedy and Chase Ray; his siblings, Peggy Smith of Rocky Point and Clyde Thurman Brown of Leesburg, Florida; and his stepchildren, Cora Belle Necaise of Holly Ridge and Troy Smith (Brenda) of Jackson, Louisianna. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel (612 S Norwood St, Wallace, NC 28466). A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
