He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joe Hamilton and Lorine Morgan Hamilton; his former wife Frances Hamilton; his wife Anna Hamilton; his children, Rees Hamilton Carter, Morgan Hamilton (Thomas Langley), Stephanie Huffman (Chris Perrella), Allison Huffman Hester (Chuck) and Britt Huffman (Cheryl McCormick); his grandchildren, Anderson Carter (Victoria) and Mackenzie Hester; his great grandchildren, Brody Carpenter and Liam Williams; and his granddaughter Adrienne Carter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Anne's Episcopal Church.
