Chester Giddens Obituary
Mr. Chester L. Giddens, Ret. CSM, 85 of Fayetteville passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017. After serving 23 years in the United States Army, he made Fayetteville his home and went on to work in real estate for 20 years. He was from Telfair County, Ga. Mr. Giddens was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Claudie Giddens; four brothers, Archie, AJ, Hugh and Grover Giddens; and a sister, Maxine Giddens Vaugh.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years and the love of his life, Carol Bullard Giddens of the home; son, Dennis Scott Giddens and wife, Colee of Fayetteville; a daughter, Karen Everitte and husband, Oscar of Semora; a sister, Tildy Ray of Vienna, Ga.; step children, Kenny Tatum and wife, Deana and Karen Hopkins and husband, James all of Hope Mills; five grandchildren, Erika Snodgrass, Holli Simpson, Stefanie Koepke, Morgan Giddens-Stone and Arin Winter; eight great grandchildren, Kendall Simpson, Brandon Simpson, Kayleigh Koepke, Leyna Koepke, Ethan Giddens, Jaxon Stone, Adelyn Snodgrass and Brody Snodgrass; five step grandchildren, Brian Tatum, Brandon McMillan, Hannah Hopkins, Kelli Todd and Katherine Tatum; and six step great grandchildren, although Isiah loved to call him Uncle Chester.
He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service with military honors will be held at 2 pm Saturday, October 28, 2017 in New Life Baptist Church with Dr. Lewis B. Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm prior to the service at the church.
