He was predeceased by: his wife Brenda Byrd; his parents, Ray Byrd and Lucy Byrd; and his siblings, William Byrd, Mary Marona, Donald Byrd, Betty Jo Jones, Harry Byrd and Margaret Byrd.
He is survived by: his children, Greta Sherwood (Mike), Monica Watts and Jeff Byrd (Melissa); his grandchildren, Dalton Sherwood, Hannah Sherwood, Blake Watts and Lilly Byrd; and his siblings, Ruby Byrd and Johnny Byrd. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home (538 Tracy Grove Rd, Hendersonville, NC 28792). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain View Assisted Living, in loving memory of David and Brenda Byrd, 260 Centerway Drive, Hendersonville, NC 28792.
