He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Roy and Julie Burns Carney. He is survived by: his sister Sarah "Sue" Murphy (Wayne) of Jacksonville; and his pet Squiker. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, April 29th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery (212 Piney Grove Baptist Church Rd, Swansboro, NC 28584, USA).
