She was predeceased by: her parents, Arvlee Whisnant and Marie Pipes Whisnant; her husband Earl Larry Minton; her brothers, Michael, Jimmy, Bobby, Jerry and Anford Whisnant; and her nephew John Ray Hicks.

She is survived by: her children, Larry Michael Minton (Robin) of Granite Falls, Judy Hefner (Doug) of Hildebran, Kathy Lingerfelt (Scott) of Hickory and Lisa Prestwood (Jason) of Lenoir; her sisters, Joyce Cash (Chris) of Rhodhiss and Kay Gosnell of Lenoir; and her grandchildren, Katie Minton, Nathan Minton, Brittney Prestwood, Branden Prestwood, Avrey Lingerfelt, Douglas Hefner and Joseph Hefner.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Whitnel Children's Program.
