He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Wilkins and Thedis Wilkins; and his daughter Carol. He is survived by: his son Rod Locklear (Kelly) of Huntersville; his brother Craig Wilkins; his grandchildren, Sierra, Noah, Madison and Jonathon; and his great grandchildren, Maisie and Jase.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Alzheimers Association James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
