He was predeceased by: his parents, William Henry Darnell and Annie Mae Kinley Darnell; his siblings, William Charles Darnell (Billy), Calvin Darnell and Sophia Gant; and his granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Bennett.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Sharar Darnell; and his children, James Darnell (Cathy), Donna Mills, Chris Carpenter (Beverly) and Cathy Carpenter. He is also survived by three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a large circle of extended family.
