As we bid Monica Lisa farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Monica Lisa is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Borden Butner and Naomi Wilcox Butner; and her sister Shannon Britt. She is survived by: her son Daylon Duane Duke (Daylon); the father of her child David Duke; and her brother Duane Butner (Darlene). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the New Life Independent Baptist Church (6413 Burlington Rd, Hurdle Mills, NC 27541).
