He was predeceased by: his parents, Ida Lucille Wilson Miller and Lloyd Vann Miller; his wife Wanda Sue "Susie" Bryan; his son-in-law Mark Lee Chaney; and his siblings, Arville Miller and Catherine Cole.
He is survived by: his daughters, Cheryl "Cherie" Pearsall (Kevin) of Gastonia and Mitzi Ledford (Dennis) of Boone; and his grandchildren, John Clay "Johnny" Miller, II (Julie), Nicole Marshall, Jamie Harris (Leah), Amber Whitaker (Danny), Christian Chaney, Rebekah Metcalf (Jordan), John Clay "Clay" Miller, Jeremy Miller and Grace Miller. He is also survived by seventeen great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
