He is survived by: his daughters, Shea Braswell (Steven) and Devon Price (Jamey); his stepchildren, Timothy Biggers and Karyn McAlpin (Matt); his brother Steve Merritt (Cathy); his grandchildren, Jonathan (Emily), Jackson (Miranda), Savanna, Sarah Jayne, Jase, Allen Biggers (Jessica), Haidyn Ramey and Kaleana Julius-Carroll; his great grandchildren, Claire, Kennedy and Lilith; his niece Joyce; his nephew James; and his wife Ellen B. Merritt.
In addition to flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Indian Trail VFW, the VA, or Metrolina Christian Academy—organizations that held a special place in Michael's heart.
