He was predeceased by: his parents, William Papenburg and Ruth Clayton Papenburg; and his daughter Ashley Thomas. He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Caskey Papenburg; his children, Dustin Papenburg (Laura) of Mint Hill, NC, Arthur "Skip" Miller (Neely) of Vale, NC and Nicole Papenburg of New Zealand; his sisters, Jayne Dold of Clearwater, FL and Gayle Cupples of Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Chase Thomas, Aurora Papenburg, Amelia Thomas, Hazel Miller, Rowan Papenburg and Wren Papenburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ironton Presbyterian Church, PO Box 129, Iron Station, NC 28080.
