Roger Max Harris Obituary
We announce the death of Roger Max Harris of Jackson, North Carolina, who passed away on October 18, 2026, at the age of 79. Roger will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Harris and Nina Harris; and his brother Ricky. He is survived by: his wife Frankie Justice Harris; his daughters, Missy Harris and Laura Buchanan; his sons-in-law, David Privette and Scott Buchanan; his grandchildren, Eli (Abigail), Max (Addison Cowan), Clay Buchanan (Kaitlyn Johns) and Abby Harris; and his sister-in-law Marian Harris. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Appalachian Funeral Services (165 Skyland Dr, Sylva, NC 28779). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Scotts Creek Baptist Church (97 Steeple Rd, Sylva, NC 28779).
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be given to Buff Creek Baptist Church (1274 Mineral Springs Drive, Sylva, NC 28779). Half of the memorials will go to the church's general fund and half will go to North Carolina Baptists on Mission.
