She was predeceased by: her parents, John David Philyaw and Lydia Cottle Philyaw; her husband Joseph Linwood North Sr.; and her siblings, Bertie Mae Midyette, Wilford Philyaw, Raymond Philyaw, Bobby Philyaw and Margaret Louis Philyaw.
She is survived by: her children, Jo Ann North Clark (David) of Rocky Mount and Joseph Linwood North, Jr. (Francina "Kay") of Jacksonville; her sisters, Alma Lee Mitchell of Havelock and Carolyn Millinder of Maysville; her grandchildren, Heather Hines Todd (Joe) of Elm City, Courtney Hines Cunningham (Ryan) of Lexington and Robin Jefferies Webb (Ted) of Jacksonville, NC; her great grandchildren, Jacob Todd, Abigail Cunningham, Lydia Cunningham, RJ Cunningham, Ryan Webb (Nicole) and Hannah Webb; and her great great grandchild Riley Webb.
