It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Deke Slayton Owens (Jacksonville, North Carolina), born in Birmingham, Alabama, who passed away on December 24, 2025, at the age of 54, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his wife Corinne; his children, Rachel (Carter), Allyson (Zachary) and Slayton; his parents, Virginia Owens and Jack Owens; his stepmother Pat Owens; and his siblings, Brett Owens (Amber), Duane Owens (Audrey), Molly Smith (Tom), Laura Barfield (Clay) and Stacey Grayson (Patrick). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
