He is survived by: his wife Katren Monk (Striblin); his children, Krystal Monk and Dexter Monk, Jr. of Greensboro, NC; his siblings, Wilbert Monk of Jacksonville, Haywood Monk of Jacksonville, Jemmie Monk (Kathryn) of Jacksonville, Johnnie Monk of Jacksonville, Sarah Monk of Jacksonville, NC and Clementine Monk of Jacksonville, NC; his grandchildren, Imari, Kamari, Jamari Sellers, Ava Hale and Dakari Monk; his sister Lethen "Inky" Pollock; and his godparents, Leon, Yvette Monk, Faye Tina Coleman and Minnie Pollock.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 7th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Monk Family Cemetery (139 Morton Farm Rd, Jacksonville, NC 28540).
