It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Dottie Helms Smith of Jacksonville, North Carolina, who passed away on September 4, 2025, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Wilson Reese Helms, Sr. and Nancy Mullis Helms; her siblings, Wilson Reese Helms, Jr. and Judy Rogers; and her grandson Cyrus Jackson Smith.

She is survived by: her husband Sammy G. Smith; her sister Patti Peters; her sons, Lee Smith (Hilary) of Gastonia, NC and Mitch Smith (Kimberly) of Chinquapin, NC; her grandchildren, Leah, Rogan, Lily and Sadie; and her great grandchild Hudson Smith. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Church Family Life Center, 100 Half Moon Road, Jacksonville, NC 28546.
