With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jimmie Myers Barnes of Jacksonville, North Carolina, born in Wayne County, North Carolina, who passed away on November 13, 2022 at the age of 89. He was predeceased by: his parents, Thelma Holland Barnes and Clarence Barnes; his son Jimmie Myers Barnes Jr.; and his brothers, Gaines, Travis and Rudy.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Tyndall Barnes of Jacksonville, NC; his daughter Becky; his son-in-law Butch Carter of Jacksonville, NC; his granddaughter Tabitha (Jamie Dickerson); his great grandchildren, Kamdyn Dickerson and Rilynn Dickerson; his granddaughter Lindsay (Roy Jarman); and his great grandchildren, Carter Sanders of Jacksonville, NC., Cole Jarman of Jacksonville, NC. and Karsyn Jarman of Jacksonville, NC.. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
