She was predeceased by: her parents, Edd Lee Smith and Josephine Brown Smith; her husband Albert Cook, Jr.; her son Albert Charles Cook; and her brothers, Daniel Smith, Hubert Smith, Ralph Smith and Samuel Smith.

She is survived by: her daughters, Jan C. Carter and Lorelei "Lori" Allen of Walkertown, NC; her siblings, Roosevelt Smith and Carrie Lee Robbins of Castle Hayne; her sister-in-law Carol Smith of Chinquapin; and her grandchildren, Kimberly "Kim" Pigott, Christopher "Chris" Allen and Kristina "Kristy" Wheeless (Joshua).
