It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Leona Joye Walters of Jacksonville, North Carolina, who passed away on September 28, 2023, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, George Taylor and Gladys Clevenger Taylor; her son Richard Walters; and her sisters, Luella Opalenik and Bessie Purtell.

She is survived by: her children, Cindy Richardson (Charles) of St. Augustine and David Walters; and her grandchildren, Charles Richardson, Olivia Thurman and Ashley Walters. She is also survived by 8 Great Grandchildren.
