He was predeceased by : his wife Thelma Sandy; his parents, Oliver Sandy and Mageline Sandy; and his siblings, Edward Sandy, Glenn Sandy, Joyce Porminville and Linda Dixon.

He is survived by : his siblings, Vicky Taylor of Jacksonville, Harold Sandy of Jacksonville, Frederick Sandy of Richlands and Wayne Sandy (Shirley) of Jacksonville.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 4th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery (110 Montford Landing Rd, Jacksonville, NC 28540).
