She was predeceased by: her parents, Victoria Shepard and Robert Lee Marshburn; her husband Gattis Lee Smith, Sr.; her son Mark Thomas Smith; her siblings, James Grayson Marshburn, Dorothy Bruno and Ruth Hayes; and her daughter-in-law Tonda King Smith.
She is survived by: her sons, Gattis Lee Smith, Jr. (Judy Hansley) of Holly Ridge and Robert Alan Smith of Jacksonville; her sisters, Fay Gould of Jacksonville, Flora Raynor of Jacksonville, Ruby Doyle (Sam) of Alabama, Mary Lofton (Pete) of Maysville and Vickie Harrington (Terry) of Greenville; and her grandchildren, Annie King Swinson (David), Victoria R. Smith, Beverly Smith Johnson (Nelson), Jessica Smith Randle (CJ) and Anthony J. Smith. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
