He is survived by: his children, Richard Jarrell Whaley and Rosa Pettys Nash; his brother Joseph Robert Whaley; and his sons, William Hendrix Whaley, Jr. of Currie and Kemper Dean Whaley of Jacksonville. He is also survived by grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
