He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernice Humphrey and Adeline Humphrey; and his brother Roger Humphrey. He is survived by: his children, Butch Humphrey (Pippa) of Raleigh, Scott Humphrey (Cheryl) of Hillsborough and Sharon Bullock of Jacksonville; his grandchildren, Meagan, Taylor, Cari, Courtney, Garrett and Bailey; and his sister Ann Ridge.
