He was predeceased by: his parents, John T. Boyd and Frances Kennedy Boyd; his daughter Emily Dawn Boyd; and his sister Marie "Sissy" Palmer. He is survived by: his significant other Lynn Holder; his sons, Allen Boyd (Kim) of Trinity and Micheal Boyd (Ashley) of Winston Salem; his sisters, Linda Bledsoe (Jerry), Pat Williams (Chuck) and Brenda Macon (Arthur); his grandchildren, Trey Boyd, Zack Boyd, Tiffany Boyd (Dustin), Braxdon Boyd and Corben Boyd; his great grandchild Chase Autwell; his goddaughter Laura Reed; and his pet Hattie.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hospice of Randolph County, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203.
