He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Gwyn and Nettie Rae Burkett Sheets; and his siblings, Willard, Donald, Richard, Douglas Sheets, Margarite Bare and Raychella Bennett.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Ann Houck Sheets; his children, Mark Sheets (Kelly) of Jefferson and Monica Eller (Damon) of Jefferson; his sisters, Wileen Fortner of Jefferson and Beverly Waddell (Bill) of West Jefferson; and his grandchildren, Devan Sheets (Anna Wagoner), Brooklyn Sheets, Brodey Eller and Bru Eller. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Phoenix Baptist Church (7910 NC-194, Lansing, NC 28643). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
