He was predeceased by: his siblings, Herman, Kermit, Thomas, Paul and Shirley.

He is survived by: his wife Madge Roberts; his son John Jr. (Robin); his grandchildren, Kassee (Michael) and Jordan (Cara); his great grandchildren, Bekah, Walker, Asher and Jace; and his sister Mary.
