He is survived by: his wife Barbara Parsons Childers; his children, Nancy Shoemaker (Larry) of Statesville and Tom (Kelly) of Indian Trail; his grandchildren, Sarah Shoemaker Brame (Phillip) of Winston-Salem, Colby Childers of Indian Trail and Victoria Shoemaker of Statesville; his great grandchildren, Eloise Kate and Lara Ruth Brame; his siblings, Eva Miller of Bradenton, FL, Betty Norris (Ronnie) of Todd and James Childers (Janet) of Charleston, SC; and his sister-in-law Alma Childers of Bradenton, FL. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Ashelawn Chapel. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 3:15 PM at the Ashelawn Memorial Chapel (3470 U. S. Hwy 221 N, Jefferson, NC 28640).
