He was predeceased by: his parents, Woodroe Emerson and Hattie Lou Waddell Emerson; and his siblings, Eddison Emerson, Buddy Emerson and Virginia Elliott.
He is survived by: his wife Lula Belle Liddle Emerson; his son Michael Emerson of West Jefferson; his siblings, Rex Emerson (Susan) of West Jefferson, Mark Emerson (Patricia) of Independence, VA and Bernice Emerson of Lansing; his grandsons, Zachary Emerson and Benjamin Emerson (Ashley); his great grandchildren, Weston Emerson, Gatlin Emerson and Benleigh Emerson; his nephew Barry Liddle; his niece Cathy Liddle; and his great-niece Laranie Sheets. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
