He was predeceased by: his sisters, Vera, Martha, Clara and Melba; and his half-sisters, Dorothy Ann and Ina Grace.
He is survived by: his wife Anne Greeson Smith; his sons, Robert Smith (Rasma) and Alan Smith (Lori); his granddaughters, Taylor Smith and Madison Smith Hampton (Nathan); his stepdaughter Terri Bolton (Craig); his stepgranddaughter Jordan Berry (Jeremy); and his stepgreat-grandson Jackson.
