She was predeceased by: her parents, Cletus Knox, Sr. and Bertha Brown Knox; her husband George W. Grier; her children, Willie Knox, Sr., Joyce Fowler and Vernon Knox; her grandchildren, Tefara Grier and William "Tyler" Knox; and her siblings, Alonzo Knox, Clarence Knox of Frank Knox, L. J, Pauline White, Ruth Grier, Berthena Russell and Aggie Miller.
She is survived by: her daughters, Chrystal Shipp (Tommy) of Concord and Clorena L. Grier; her grandchildren, Vanessa Thompson (Marvin), Willie Knox, Jr. (Anita), Candis Grier Hair (Franco), Clinton Thompson, Jr., Braxton Shipp and LaToya Brown; her great grandchildren, Tiera Grier, Jocelyn Slaughter (Ricardo), Willie "Trey" Knox, III, Jalisa Knox, Kamari Cadet, Jerzi Torrence, Nolen Torrence, Kamelia Hair, A'Kelia Thompson, Adonis Thompson and Monique Goodman (Frank); her siblings, Cletus Knox, Jr. of Cleveland, NC, Naomi Knox of Kannapolis, NC, Mary Bost of Kannapolis, NC and Jessie Watson of Winston Salem, NC; her aunt Ellen Knox of Kannapolis, NC; her siblings-in-law, Willie Miller, Willie Lewis Grier and Mary Grier; and her goddaughter Melanie Joy Lipscomb. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins' other relatives and friends.
