He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Smith Moore; his son Chris Moore (Jennifer) of Hillsborough, NC; his grandchildren, Eleanor Curtis Moore (Chapel Hill), Ryder Brooks Moore and Cooper Brann Moore (Hillsborough); and his nieces and nephews, Curtis Moore (Goose Creek), Kyle Hill (Monroe), Donna Hill (Charlotte) and Laura Hunt.
In honor of Brooks' lifelong love for animals, memorials may be made to Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary (https://faithfulfriendsnc.org) in Salisbury.
