He was predeceased by: his father Howard C. Helms; and his brother Jerry Helms. He is survived by: his children, Brian David Helms and Amber Lea Richardson (Jeff); his siblings, Jean Dancy, Rebecca "Becky" Jones (William), Martha Helms and Donnie Helms (Judy); and his grandchildren, Skylar Bost, Caleb Taylor (Ashton), Jonah Taylor, Asia Myers (Lane), Elias Taylor, Austin Richardson and Landon Richardson.
