She was predeceased by : her parents, Elsworth Sherrill and Lucille Kesser Sherrill; her children, Sherrilynn Horton and Eric Sherrill; her granddaughter Maya Sherrill; her stepson Aaron Johnson; her brothers, Kelsey Sherrill and Carl Avery Sherrill; and her brother-in-law Arthur Johnson.

She is survived by : her husband Herman Johnson; her daughter Cherelle Horton Eddleman (William) of Concord, NC; her grandchildren, Deon Horton (Brooke), William Eddleman, III, Charity Eddleman, Bianca Eddleman, Jasmine Eddleman Williams (Lionel), Caleb Eddleman, Trinity Eddleman, Bethany Eddleman, Destiny Eddleman Rodgers (Malcolm), Serenity Eddleman, Raven Sherrill Rodgers (Micah), Grant Sherrill and Olivia Sherrill; her brother Clement Sherrill (Brenda) of China Grove, NC; her stepsons, Willie Johnson (Darlene) of Charlotte, NC, Terry Johnson of Charlotte, NC and Marcus Johnson (Kathy) of Camden, SC; and her siblings-in-law, Sadie Thompson and Johnny Johnson (Patricia). She is also survived by 16 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Sandy Ridge AME Zion Church (1425 Mt Moriah Church Rd, China Grove, NC 28023). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 at 2:30 PM at the same location.
