He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Cockrell and Pansy Holland Cockrell; his brothers, Eugene Cockrell and Elton Lee Cockrell (Jeanette); and his nephew Rodney Cockrell.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Creech Cockrell; his son Greg Cockrell (Crystal); his grandchildren, Ashley and Sam; his daughter Tracey Batten (Steve); his grandson Alex (Jessica); his sister Shirley Britt (David); his sister-in-law Carolyn Cockrell; and his brothers, Jerry Cockrell (Jan) and Johnny Cockrell (Francis).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Family Life Center (2000 Ruann Dr SW, Wilson, NC 27893). A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Wilson First Pentecostal Holiness Church (2000 Ruann Dr SW, Wilson, NC 27893).
