He was predeceased by : his parents, Verda J. Rice and Kelly T. Rice. He is survived by : his wife Paula A. Rice; his brother Thomas Rice (Janet Coldsmith); his stepchildren, Ann-Morgan Rice, Aven Rice and Amanda Ezzell (Darrell); his grandchildren, Tess Pearce (Stewart), Damon, Kelly, Genevieve, Sophia, Josephine and Olivia; his great grandchildren, Ryder, Garrett, Artemis and Thomas; his niece Molly Rice (Joshua Freeman); his nephew Joe Rice (Kelly); and his toy fox terriers, Verda and Wilder.

“To the family if my friend for life Gary! My name is Bart Pierce, Gary and I spent years together in Va Beach, High school in CoCo Beach Fla, Puerto Rico. Surfing our brains out. When I was 17 Gary’s parents took me in there home , at Gary request. I am sorry to here of Gary’s passing. He’s at home in the presence of our Lord! As a young person with a lot of challenges , you couldn’t have had a better friend. Gary was that a great friend ! We’ll miss him, but we’re he is we can go there! Bp”
