She was predeceased by: her parents, Samuel Knott and Mecie Williams Knott; her husband Arch Bishop Dean Stephens; and her brother Sammy Knott. She is survived by: her son David Stephens (Suzanne "Zan"); and her sister Sandra Brannock of Winston Salem.
