He was predeceased by: his wife Vivian McClain; his parents, Howard McClain and Mary McClain; his siblings, Rebecca Robinson, Howard McClain Jr., Edward McClain, Douglas "Pete" McClain, Mattie Wade, Betty Strickland and Patheriaco McClain; and his grandchildren, Antonio Crocker and Victoria Grace McClain.

He is survived by: his children, Derik Jordan (Rhonda) of Kings Mountain, NC, Darrin McClain of Kings Mountain, NC and Joe McClain (Zeppora) of Cleveland, OH; and his grandchildren, Marlesia Jordan, Brian Byrd, Ashlie Setzer, Denequal Brown-Smith, Derik Jordan Jr., Jeremiah Jordan, Shaunca Starkes, Tyla McClain and Karsyn McClain. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
