He was predeceased by: his parents, William Franklin and Ruth Short; his adoptive parents, J. D. Short and Doris Short; and his brothers, Michael Franklin, Craig Franklin and Bill Short.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Foster Franklin; his daughters, Shelia Arrowood (Scott Philbeck) and Bobbie Franklin (Kelly Welch); and his siblings, Randy Short, Dean Short, Patricia Ann Mahon (Bill), Darlene Cadwallader and Lori Biggers. He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to his beloved church, Patterson Grove Baptist Church, 301 Oak Grove Rd, Kings Mountain, NC 28086, in Steve's memory.
