With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ruth Piper (Kings Mountain, North Carolina), born in Midland, North Carolina, who passed away on August 18, 2019 at the age of 87. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernest Efird and Laura Edna Efird; her former husband Harold Lee Baucom; and her siblings, Estelle Burris, Eleanor Hopkins, Charles Efird and Lawrence Efird.

She is survived by: her husband John Floyd Piper, Jr.; and her children, Sheila Morton (Sherrill), Dennis Baucom (Sandra), Donna Swafford (Jack Stringfellow) and Mark Baucom (Roxanne). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
