Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Violet Wood of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, who passed away at the age of 76, on July 9, 2022. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesse Messer and Ella Messer; her husband Charles "Melvin" Wood; her siblings, Delores Ann Whitesides, Mary Jeanette McFee, Billy Odell Messer, Bobby Blair Messer and Harry Eugene Messer; and her siblings-in-law, Rev. Pete Strickland, Jean Strickland and Jean Russell.

She is survived by: her stepson Shawn (Julie); her grandson Nicholas (Ansley); her siblings, Ginger McSwain, Ella Faye Mayberry, Terry Denise Myers, Debra Blanton, Diane Messer, Peggy Payne, Tommy Messer, Joe Messer and James Messer; and her nieces, TJ McSwain and Brooke Moody. She is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews.
