She is survived by: her children, Jacqueline "Jackie" Bitner (Bob Bitner), Burton A. Gay II (Tammy Gay) and Ty A. Gay (Kimberly Malone Gay); her grandchildren, Megan G. Possiel (Ben) of Wendell, NC, Ty Aubrey Gay Jr. (Michelle) of LaGrange, NC, Andrew Blake Gay (Shelby) of Kinston, NC, Samuel J. Gray (Kiersten) of Holly Springs, NC, Virginia "Jenna" Dozier (Tripp) of Newport, NC and Tyson Alexander Gay of Newport, NC; and her great grandchildren, Grayson, Charlotte, Daniel, Keegan, Jordy, Hollis, Avie, Maebrey, Huntley, Eloise and Astor. She is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Pinelawn Memorial Park (4488 US-70, Kinston, NC 28504).
